Doraval was fired as Brazil’s coach after Argentina’s appointment, Jorge Jesus, allegedly a favorite to take over

Brazil fired coach Dorivan Junior after their shaking in the hands of Argentina In 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

Selechao lost 4-1 to his rivals in Buenos Aires on Tuesday, causing speculation Dorival will be released from his duties.

The Brazilian Football Confederation (FBC) also confirmed his departure in a brief statement on Friday.

It says: “The Brazilian Football Confederation announces that coach Doraval Janior will no longer be in charge of the Brazilian national team.

“The Board thanks the professional and wishes him success in his continuous career. From now on, the FBC will work to find a replacement.”

Dorivan pays a price for Brazil’s bad form

Argentina’s defeat was marked by Nadir in a spoiled race for Brazil, the one who saw them wins only one of their last five matches.

Brazil needed a 99th minute winner by Vinisius Jr. to beat Colombia 2-1 in the World Cup qualifiers before defeating Argentina.

The previous international window in November saw Brazil holding up to 1-1 drawing of the 10-member Venezuela and Uruguay.

Brazil lost five matches in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, although they are still very likely to advance to the final of 48 teams as one of Six South America Automatic Qualifications.

They sit in the fourth place in the CONMEBOL qualifiers of 21 points, 10 points behind Argentina, but six ahead of Venezuela, who occupy the intercontinental play-off.

Brazil faces Ecuador and Paraguay in the next round of the June qualifying round.

Jorge Jesus favorite for Brazil work

Reports in Brazil suggest that Jorge Jesus is a favorite to succeed Dorav.

Portugal’s passenger coach has never trained in international football, though he enjoyed a short but successful magic in Brazilian football.

Jesus coached from June 2019 to July 2020, winning five trophies in that style.

These honors included Copa Libertadores in 2019, Flamengo winning the biggest award in South American football for the first time since 1981. Jesus also delivered the title “First Serie A Flamengo” since 2009 and won Recopa Sudamericana, Supercopa Do Brasil and Campeonato Carioca.

Jesus is currently in charge of Al Hilal, who led to the glory of the Saudi Pro League last season.

Real Madrid chief Carlo Ancelotti is also mentioned as a potential candidate. However, Ancelotti get away from those reports at its press conference on Friday.

“My contract is clear, I have nothing more to add,” Ancelotti said.

“I have a great Eection Fuilet at the Brazilian national team, their players and their fans, but I have a deal with Real Madrid.”
