How to win a self-defense fight

Sharing some details on how I overcame my immune system, brought balance to my body and am now symptom free. Download the free e-book here.

hi friends! how are you? I hope you are having a great morning so far. I have a day with client calls and I’m looking forward to some adventures with the fam – we’re headed to Disney for a long weekend to celebrate Liv’s birthday. I will share the adventures later IG Stories! The kids have asked for events or trips instead of birthday parties and I’m in. Less stressful and more fun around.

I’m usually weird about celebrating personal things – like when it’s my birthday I don’t tell anyone lol – but this month I’m celebrating two milestones and embracing each part of these huge milestones:

– One year unmarked and

– One year of negative symptoms of lupus

How to win a self-defense fight

My main symptoms

About two years ago, some terrible things happened to my health. I went from feeling *okay* – still occasionally anxious and tired at times – to dealing with mysterious rashes, histamine issues, joint pain and extreme fatigue. I couldn’t recover from exercise, and if I did something particularly strenuous, I felt like I needed to sleep for the rest of the day. And my eyes gave me much sorrow. I’ve done quite a few blog posts about the eye saga, but it ended up being blepharitis, Meibomian Gland Dysfunction and dry eye.

autoimmune rashes and eye issues

eyes then

My last flame was a little over a year ago. We have seen The nutcracker As a family – one of our favorite cultures – and I could feel my eyes light up during the show. Suddenly, they were burning, itchy, and neon red. As soon as it was over, we raced to Walgreens for Claritin – which I knew at the time was part of a histamine reaction – and took out my contacts so I could put on my glasses. I was doing much better, but still having regular eye flares.

That was my last.

My autoimmune history and lupus symptoms

Two summers ago, my PCP helped me get some blood work done, and everything came back *normal* except for two lupus markers. If one is positive, there is a good chance you have lupus, but when two are positive, you have a very good chance of having lupus. Even though I was disappointed with the results, they made sense to me.

positive DSDNA

She referred me to rheumatology, but since my symptoms were treatable, and I had been dealing with them for about a year at that point, I wanted to do some digging and see if I could heal myself.

When I ran some possible tests from my PCP and dry eye specialist, No one could tell me why this was happening. I knew my body was crying for help, that something was causing inflammation, and I was determined to figure it out. i have been Newly certified IHP Level 2; So I put my new skills to work. The goal was to find my flaws and toxicity so I could bring everything back into balance.

I made a big change in my life. Running labs on myself, changing my diet and focusing on my nervous system were game changers. Over time, my immune and histamine issues disappeared, my eyes stopped bothering me, and my energy and focus returned.

eyes now

By last December, I felt much better, and my lupus markers were negative. Last week, at my annual blood work, both markers were negative again—a huge relief and confirmation of my progress. TBH I was scared to get the results because I’ve been feeling great for the past year but it was a huge relief.

negative ANA in december

(You can see here that ANA was positive in July and negative in December!)

And when we tested again this past week, negative again:

negative ANA

And negative dsDNA twice in a row as well. Wow!!!

negative DSDNA

Please note that this is not medical advice. I’m just sharing my experience and hope this gives you some ideas or support if you’re in the same boat. It’s also to share some hope because things *right* may not last. Healing is possible, and it can be hard to see that at the time. <3
