Israeli military released a video in December 2023, saying that Mohammed Sinuar was moving through an underground tunnel Hamas

The Israeli military said it was located and identified the body of Mohammed Sinuar, a military leader of the Palestinian armed group Hamas in Gaza.

His body was discovered at a tunnel under the European Hospital in the southern city of Khan Enisis, Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) said on Sunday.

It says he has checked the identity of the body through DNA checks – although Hamas did not publicly confirm his death.

The 49-year-old Sinvar was killed in an air strike on May 13, which was run by Hamas Civil Protection Agency that they had killed 28 people and injured dozens.

The sineur’s body was found with that of Mohammed Sabane, the commander of the Hamas Rafa Brigade, IDF said.

He added that “there are several objects belonging to Sinwar and Sabaneh, along with additional findings of intelligence, which have been transferred for a further investigation.”

IDF said other bodies were found that seek to identify.

On Sunday on Sunday, they needed a small group of foreign journalists in Gaza to Khan Einnis.

He also posted a video at the small entrance of the tunnel, accessible through freshly dug land right in front of the European Hospital.

The shots show a long, narrow underground corridor that leads to several rooms.

Some of them show piles of clothes and plastic chairs, with a rifle tilted to the wall. One video also shows a wrapped body that is pulled from the tunnel with a rope.

IDF spokesman Brig Gen Efi Defrin said that in one of the rooms they found the Sinwar body.

“This is another example of cynical use by Hamas, using civilians as human shields using civilian infrastructure, hospitals, again and again,” he said.

Israel has repeatedly accused Hamas of using hospitals as hiding places for weapons and command centers that the group denies.

IDF has installed siege and attacks against hospitals in Gaza or ordered their evacuation, leaving the health system on the territory of the edge of the total collapse.

Such attacks have caused widespread international care, as many hospitals and medical establishments have been exposed – and the lives of patients and employees are at risk.

In a statement after Israeli strike at Al-Ali Hospital in April, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guteres expressed his deep alarm and announced that according to international humanitarian law, he should be respected and protected “sick and sick, medical officers, including hospitals, should be respected and protected.”

Gaza hospital staff have also repeatedly denied that Hamas used his facilities as a base.

IDF will point to these last staff as revenge on its claims and its military strategy.

As with so much in gas, however, complete independent check is not possible.

Israel launched a military campaign in Gaza in response to an unprecedented cross -border attack on October 7, 2023, which killed about 1,200 people and 251 others were hostage.

Since then, at least 54,880 people have been killed in Gaza, according to the health ministry in the territory.

The updated battle in Gaza comes after the collapse of a transaction to exchange and exchange hostages a few months ago.

Since then, Israel has restored its goal to destroy Hamas and restore the hostages, 54 of whom remain in captivity, and 23 are thought to be still alive.

Mohammed Sinvar joined Hamas shortly after his founding in the late 1980s and became a member of the military wing of the BRIGADA group of Izedin al-Casam.

He rose through the ranks and until 2005 he was commander of the Han Einnis Brigade.

Sinwar is also reported to be close to another of Hamas military chiefs, Mohammed Def and participated in the planning of the attack on October 7th.

His brother and predecessor Yahya Sinuar – who is thought to be one of the leader behind the attack on October 7 – was killed by Israeli troops last October.
