Slot rejects Liverpool fatigue claims after heart break in EFL

Liverpool manager Arne Slot has used the suggestions on his side of 2: 1 by Newucasil United in the EFL Cup final was the product of fatigue after their penalty shoot -out in Paris Saint -Germerman in the Champions League.

The Reds were favorites to look for their first trophy under the slot, which oversaw the outstanding first season in charge of taking over from Jurgen Klopp, with 12 points to Liverpool from Arsenal at the top of the Premier League.

But they were unveiled by a top appearance by Newucasel, who took the lead of 2-0 through goals from Den Bourne and Alexander Isaac before Federico Ciessa retired at the time of stopping.

Liverpool’s underlined view came five days after they allowed the first leg to slip over PSG in the last tie, a pulsating second game eventually went to the penalties, in which Ianaanluigi Donumma shone to send League 1 leaders.

Liverpool looked without Wembley energy, but the slot would not have cited fatigue as a factor, rather than indicating a direct approach from Castukasel that manager Eddie Howe admitted he was holding close to his chest when both sides met at Anfield last month as his main cause.

“It is mentally always difficult to judge,” Slot told reporters when asked if his side was tired.

“Were we were mentally or physically tired on Tuesday? No, but this game had nothing to do with running, this game only had a relationship with playing duels.

“And there was no intensity of running in this game at all, we can’t even judge if we were physically tired, yes or no, because we couldn’t press them.

“You can estimate a team if they are tired if they pressed, but there was nothing to press because they played over our press.

“If they got a goal from a goal or a free kick, every time they bring it to our last line that led to many pieces.

“So the game was slow and wasn’t intense, so it’s hard to judge, for me, if we were physically prepared. Mentally, it’s hard.

“If you look at the result and performance you can feel (PSG’s game) did something, but I prefer to look at how the game went, and this game went exactly as they wanted to be.

“Fighting many duels and many duels through the air, and if we played 10 times playing football through the air against them, they win nine times because they are stronger in the air.”

Liverpool will have time to overcome this week’s disappointment, with an international break that will allow them to be able to be re -raised before the Merseyside race with Everton on April 2.

On whether that break came in a good time for his team, Slot said: “We are one of the biggest clubs in the world, Liverpool. But not for the first time in their history, or in the last two seasons, they have lost two games in a row.

“This is part of playing football, especially if one is when you are currently facing the best team in Europe, and the other faces a Newucasel, which is a very strong team in England.

“I would like to play next week. But now the situation is that they go to their national teams, where they have two more matches again. Then it’s probably one and a half weeks before we face Everton, which is again a team we have already faced. We know how difficult it was. Let’s see. “
