Amorim is confident that Manchester United will improve despite the loss to Forest

Ruben Amorim insists he will “improve the team” despite Manchester United suffering back-to-back Premier League defeats after losing 3-2 at Nottingham Forest.

The defeat was the new United manager’s second in a row and his first at Old Trafford, after early goals in both halves helped a spirited Forest to victory.

Nikola Milenkovic found the net in the opening 90 seconds of the match, but Rasmus Hejlund equalized 15 minutes later.

Morgan Gibbs-White then struck less than two minutes into the second half before in-form Chris Wood became Forest’s all-time Premier League goalscorer when he nodded in the third half.

Bruno Fernandes pulled a goal back but, despite a late flurry of half-chances for the hosts, the visitors held on for United’s first home win in 30 years.

Ahead of the game, Amorim predicted a storm was coming, and on a day when games up and down the footballing pyramid were hit by Storm Darragh, the United manager’s premonitions came true.

“It’s not a surprise because we came into the middle of a lot of games,” Amorim told Sky Sports about the result.

“We already knew that. “If you have a little experience in football, you will understand these moments.”

The result comes just three days after United lost 2-0 at rivals Arsenal and just hours after the club’s minority owner, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, called the club “mediocre” in an interview published in United We Stand fanzine.

And while Amorim understands the fans’ frustration after the defeat, he is confident he can turn the tide at Old Trafford.

“It’s really disappointing for the fans,” Amorim added.

“It’s really hard to see games like this after so many times with disappointment.

“But we’re here to get the job done and we’re going to continue in the same way, doing the same things. And we will improve the team.”

Next up for Manchester United is a trip to Viktoria Plzen in the Europa League on Thursday before the Manchester derby on Sunday.
